Here’s a nice study that was done in this article “Which specific keywords pay the highest CPC on Adsense” by Ahrefs and Semrush on some of the best keywords by country.
If you’re looking for specific top-paying keywords, such as mesothelioma, which pays $1000+ per click, GrepWords has compiled a list of 1M+ Adsense keywords. They reported the ultimate top paying keyword “mesothelioma survival rates” at $1006.56 per click, for example.
Here are a few of my favorite top paid keywords by the industry as discovered by Ahrefs (data for 2017, 2018, 2019,2020, and 2021):
Mesothelioma Keywords Sorted by Cost Per Click
Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that affects the lining of the lungs, stomach, heart, and other organs, and it is incurable. Nonetheless, treatment can help to alleviate the pain. People who got mesothelioma got it at work, which is why you see searches like “mesothelioma attorneys,” “mesothelioma law firms,” and “mesothelioma compensation.”
This is a highly competitive keyword set, so unless you can outrank WebMD and MayoClinic, I recommend you look for keywords in other industries.
*A competition of one indicates that the situation is extremely competitive.
Highest Paying Keywords in the Lawyer Niche
It must be nice to be a lawyer. You get to wear a suit (which I adore) and also spend exorbitant amounts of money on website traffic. That’s not too shabby.
Adsense keywords CPC for doctors
This list includes people looking for Physicians as well as those looking for a Ph.D. program.
Adsense Keywords for Attorney
I used to think that attorneys and lawyers were the same things. I guess I was mistaken.
Here are some more attorney-related keywords:
Educational Keywords for Adsense
Adsense KWs CPC for Bitcoin
I included this one because the crypto space is so hot right now. These are not the highest-paying keywords in my article roundup, but I anticipate that their cost per click will rise in the coming years.
Top Insurance-Related Adsense Keywords
Insurance companies make a fortune from the exorbitant premiums they charge us. Otherwise, how could they afford all of those TV commercials and these exorbitant Adwords spending? Congratulations if you are a blogger in the insurance industry. You’ve chosen a winner.
Keywords to target if you’re in the ‘fitness software’ niche
Bonus #1: If you want to earn 10 times more, target these countries.
Aiming for the right countries can significantly increase your AdSense earnings. Here are the top ten countries to consider:
Looking at this chart, you will notice that the majority of the countries on this list are first-world countries.
In your blog, how do you target a specific country?
The simplest method is for them to blog in their native language. Your blog must be in English if you want visitors from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, or Australia. Similarly, if you are looking for people from Germany, write in German.
You can also modify your targeting options in Search Console.
Bonus #2: Increase your revenue by blocking low CPC ads.
As a publisher, you have a lot of say over which Ad Categories appear on your website.
If you want to increase the CPC, RPM, or CPM of your Adsense ads, I recommend reviewing your ad performance and blocking categories that aren’t paying well.
Here’s how you can go about it.
- Go to Adsense and select “Blocking Controls > Content> All Sites” from the left-hand column.
- Select “General Categories.”
- Sort by Earnings Percentage (Ascending).
- There, you can see which ads are generating a lot of impressions but only a small amount of money.
For example, if the “Hobbies Games & Leisure” category is taking 4 percent of your impressions but only 0.7 percent of your revenue, you can try blocking it to see if your performance improves.
You can also try blocking specific ad networks.
A word of caution: Don’t block too many categories (or ad networks) or you’ll significantly reduce bid competition and drive your revenue down.
Run Optimization Experiments
You can always run an Experiment (found under Optimization > Experiments) to see if blocking your ads generates more revenue or not.
You can also see if showing 50% of your total ads versus 100% of ads generates more revenue.
Google Adsense trials typically last 10-30 days but can last up to 100 days (depending on your experiment and traffic).
For example, I’m currently running an experiment in which I’m blocking specific categories, and as you can see below, I’m already seeing some promising results (unfortunately Adsense policies prevent me from sharing the exact numbers).
Bonus #3: Use Search Console to find more high-paying keywords
Did you know that Google already gives you the keywords for which you rank?
What if you could optimize your current blog posts to target even more specific keywords?
Instead of spending countless hours writing a comprehensive post, you could simply update an older one with more relevant keywords.
This is how.
Install the Chrome Extension Keywords Everywhere.
Navigate to the Search Analytics section of Google Webmasters Tools.
Select a website.
Check the boxes at the top for Clicks, Impressions, CTR, and Position.
Filter by any specific page for which you want keywords to appear: For example, https://virtuallyhelp.com/specific-keyword- pay-the-highest-CPC-on-Adsense
You’ll notice an extra three columns on your list now that you’ve installed the Keywords Everywhere tool, namely: Monthly Volume, Cost-Per-Click, and Competition
Because you cannot sort by CPC, you must copy all of the data into a spreadsheet and sort it there. I recommend clicking the Show 500 rows button at the bottom of Webmaster Tools.
I created a Google sheet for you that you can copy (File > Make a Copy..) and use to sort all of your keywords.
Copy and paste all of your keywords, then click the arrow in the CPC column and sort from Z->A.
You will now see all of the keywords for which your blog post ranks, ranked from highest CPC to lowest CPC.
Pro tip: To find more hidden gems, sort by volume or competition.
(Remember that with the new RankBrain algorithm, you should target medium-tail keywords that cover a broader topic rather than specific long-tail keywords.)
Related: Keep in mind that you can also show advertisements on YouTube (here’s a fun guide to Youtube SEO).
So, how exactly do you make $100 per day with Adsense?
I’m not sure about you, but $100 per day on ads sounds like a good passive income to me ($3k/mo).
Let’s do some math to see what it would take to make $100 per day on Adsense.
First, some generalizations.
You’re aiming for readers in the United States (as we saw earlier, US ads pay the most on average)
Your click-through rate (CTR) is 1%. (i.e. 1 percent of visitors click on ads)
Your cost per click is $0.50. (your niche is strong but your site is just getting started)
What is your RPM (revenue per 1000 impressions)? By the way, Ezoic can help you increase your earnings. (a platform for ad testing)
With these figures, we can now calculate how many visitors we need to reach our goal.
Visitors * CTR * CPC + Visitors/1000 * RPM is the formula.
So, with 15,000 visitors per day, we earn about $100 per day from Adsense.
(15,000 * 1% * $0.5 + 15,000/1000*$2 = $105 per day)
However, how do you get 15,000 page views per day? Is that logical?
Yes, it makes sense. To accomplish this, you can either produce 15 articles with 1000 page views (difficult) or 150 articles with 100 page views (easy) (much easier)

The countries with the highest AdSense CPC are the United States, Canada, France, and Germany.
There are many reasons why your CPC maybe low. Some of the reasons could be:
You have poor quality content.
Your landing page is not optimized for conversions.
There is a lack of keywords in your ad copy that would help you achieve better rankings and sales on Google AdWords.
First, make sure you are optimizing your blog for the right keywords. This will help you improve the CPC and hopefully see an increase in your blog’s revenue.
There are many things that can be done to improve the CPC such as:
• Making sure your website is mobile-friendly so people can easily find it on their phones.
• Optimizing ad campaigns to ensure they’re targeted at the right audience.
• Writing quality content that will draw readers into clicking on ads.
The cost per click (CPC) is the amount charged for a single click on an ad.
A good CPC is usually between $0.20 and $1.00 depending on your industry, website traffic, competition, and other factors.
